Abstract

The article’s objective is not only to show that a reflection towards theodicy is imbued in Kants precritical thought, but also that it indicates relevant topics, solutions, and relevant oppositions. To better apprehend this theme’s influence, it was necessary to explicit the specific function of the defense of the divine cause amidst Leibniz’ philosophy, according to which God would not be guilty of the defects of the creation, insofar as the divine will chose the best possible world. Devaluating this faculty’s importance in advantage of God’s very own being, Kant at the same time defends the divine cause and makes the theodicy’s effort of the Hannover’s philosopher pointless.

Mestrando em Filosofia Moderna pelo Departamento de Filosofia da Universidade de São Paulo (USP), com foco na obra de Immanuel Kant. Atualmente desenvolve a pesquisa de mestrado com o tema "Ordem e Contingência em Kant: da cosmologia ao homem como fim supremo", financiada pela FAPESP. Graduado e licenciado em Filosofia pela mesma instituição. Bacharel em Relações Internacionais pela Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP)
