This article aims to expose the concept of intentional in Franz Brentano's early works, specifically in his doctoral thesis of 1862, "On the Several Senses of Being in Aristotle," and his Habilitationsschrift of 1867, "Aristotle's Psychology." According to George (1978, p. 253), the concept of intentionality first appears in Brentano's writings in 1867, in the form of the objective being of the medievals (esse objectivum). However, according to Porta (2002, p. 100), the origins of the concept can already be found in his doctoral thesis in 1862, where objective being was conceived within the framework of true being. In this article, we intend to expose these two moments of the early formulations of the concept of intentionality in Brentano's thought, emphasizing the originally Aristotelian and medieval horizon of the young Brentano.
