Abstract

This works aims to discuss the conception of ideal eternal history in Giambattista Vico’s (1688 – 1744) Scienza Nuova (1744) with the purpose to shows the ethical and political orientation of the vichian thought. According to him, the human history seeks the tree ages: age of gods, age of heroes e of men in which runs the history of the world of nations. For Vico, this distinction is legitim because every age also is a type of organization of communal life, and this determines the human nature. Therefore, its necessary problematize the relation between politics and history in his writings. In this work, we adopt the interpretative hypothesis that this concept contains a critical of political as domination. For this reason, considering the reflections of researchers of Vico's work such as Burke, Hobbs, Riccio, Fiker and Croce was essential. The text concludes emphasizing a defense of the “political” against the “apolitical” Vico.
